KS2 Spring House Matches 2026

What a brilliant, sunny morning we enjoyed on Wednesday during the KS2 Spring House Matches. The children demonstrated fantastic teamwork and determination as they competed for their houses in either Tag Rugby or Netball. It was wonderful to watch them put into practice the skills they have been developing in their PE lessons with Mr Green throughout the Spring Term.

The House Captains guided their teams with care and responsibility, helping to keep the games fair and well organised. Meanwhile, the Sports Leaders supported the matches by taking on important duties such as timekeeping, scoring and refereeing, and staff noticed their confidence grow as the morning progressed.

This event was the second house competition of the year and it was great to see how independently the pupils managed their responsibilities. They worked hard to support their teammates and also showed kindness and encouragement towards the younger pupils, creating a really positive atmosphere throughout both the netball and tag rugby matches.

A big thank you also goes to the many parents who came along to watch and support. Your encouragement from the side lines made the event even more special for the children. We look forward to many more exciting sporting events in the months ahead.

KS2 Autumn House Matches 2025

Despite the particularly cold conditions, the weather held well enough for us to finally go ahead with the rescheduled Autumn House Matches. These games were postponed earlier in the term after an unexpected flurry of snow, so it was a pleasure to see them take place at last. We are especially grateful to the parents who came along. Thank you for your continued support.

All Key Stage 2 pupils represented their houses in either hockey or football, putting into practice the skills they have been developing in their PE lessons with Mr Green. A special mention goes to our Year 3 pupils, who took part in their first-ever House Matches; although the experience can feel a little daunting, they approached it with wonderful enthusiasm.

The afternoon also provided our newly appointed Year 6 House Captains and Sports Leaders with their first proper opportunity to step into their roles. The House Captains led their teams thoughtfully, helping to keep play fair and balanced, while the Sports Leaders took on duties such as timekeeping, scoring, and refereeing (responsibilities in which staff noticed they grew more confident as the matches progressed).
